About Me

Asylum 66 was formed in 1992, almost as sort of a NYC punk-rock-all-star group that featured luminaries from the then current New York underground scene.

Vocals: Brian Noone (Zen Circus)

Guitars: Jeff Ohara (Butch Lust 'N' Hypocrites, New Rose, The Blame, The Undead).

Bass: Anthony D'Amico (The Undead).

Drums: Steve Hightower

Once the front line of the group was established, several drummers have occupied the seat, including Frankie Neal, Jerry Presing, and Eddie Sousza.

Asylum 66 knows what it takes to create genuine punk rock mayhem at every gig. Their shows are basically a runaway train of power chords, pummeled bass lines, solid, rock steady drumming, lyrics about anything from Imbeciles to Lost Souls, and the results of having Gone Too Far! Anyone that's ever heard their songs on the radio, bought one of their CD's, or caught on of their live shows knows that ASYLUM 66 is all about Loud, Fast and Aggressive Fun. Just like their Forefathers who blasted out the beat thirty years ago for all the Beaten Brats, Teenage Lobotomies and the entire Third Generation Nation.

Asylum 66 have attained a widespread 'cult' status as part of the NYC scene, and have played several successful tours, festivals and countless shows both in and out of New York...up and down the East Coast of USA, the Midwest, and the Southeast. Future plans for 2008 include a summer tour of Europe (England, Ireland, Germany) as well as plans to visit the Czech Republic as well.

Asylum 66 have two albums in their roster, "Mental Hell" (1992) and "Psychozone" (1999/2003), as well as countless inclusions on various compilations over the years. They are currently in the studio working on their vinyl quotation # 3, tenatively titled "It Wasn't Me" (due January, 2008).

Many have said that Asylum 66 is what the Ramones would have become had they not "retired" in 1996. While the compliment is fantastic, the band performs all original material, with a few appropriate covers of some of their favorite 1960's top 40 hits...done in their own style ("Hey Jude", for instance, is a KILLER track...look for it on the new album).

In 2006, singer Bobby Slash decided to leave the group due to mounting health problems, as well as a growing disinterest in the status of the current music scene.

At present, after almost 20 years, Asylum 66 have honed their craft to perfection, and any show is a guaranteed "good night out" for anyone who still remembers the ideals of what punk rock was always about.

Hey, how are you doing?
Thanx a lot for the support, we really appreciate it.
Live for freedom, live for music, no gods, and no masters!
Let's keep Punk Rock underground and independent away from big money investors that drain art by its source. Thank you for supporting your local scene and MohawkRadio.com!
