Backseat Virgins has that certain something that all those other bubblegum, pop punk, melodic-core bands don’t have, and will never get. It’s like the difference between drinking a Dr. Pepper and one of those strange, Dr. Thunder sodas you can get at Wal-Mart for $.30. When you take one sip, they generally taste the same, but Dr. Thunder tastes worse and worse as you struggle to make your way to the bottom of the can. While a Dr. Pepper on the other hand tastes better every time you have one. The difference? Generic vs. the real thing, and rest assured The Backseat Virgins are anything but generic. My favorite songs on this CD has to be “light sleeper” (it reminds me of when I met my wife) & "Time For Fun" is just hilarious. They really seem to have mastered the duet style vocals on a few of the songs and utilize a great combination of the male/female split vocals for the others. |
